Fresh Rooms

Being given the keys to a new tenancy after being homeless can seem like a dream come true. But sometimes the dream can fade at the sight of a flat with stained, tired or damaged walls that are in need of a freshen up.

This is where our 'Fresh Rooms’ painting and decorating service comes in.

What is ‘Fresh Rooms’?

This service is available to people who have recently moved into permanent accommodation, eg. a new Council or Housing Association tenancy, with the opportunity to redecorate up to 2x rooms in the home. Our team of Fresh Rooms volunteers, alongside our Fresh Rooms Coordinators, work with the person to plan, prepare and repaint the two spaces and make them feel fresh, clean and comfortable.

We take a dignified approach to this service, working alongside the tenant and giving them the opportunity to pick the colours and choose how they want their new home to look. We provide the paint and the enthusiasm, transforming tired tenancies into lovely new homes.

We also offer a ‘remote Fresh Rooms service’, where we provide the paint and materials to allow a tenant to carry out the work themselves, in their new home.

Do you need our Fresh Rooms service?

To access our services, you need to be referred to Fresh Start by either a housing officer, social worker, support worker, your GP, Citizen's advice, etc. or any agency or organisation that you're working with for support.

Once our team receives your referral, we'll assess your needs in line with our services and will be in touch to discuss what we can do to help you. If you have any further questions regarding the referral process, please contact us.
