We wouldn't be able to do what we do, without the support of our incredibly generous community. With your help, we delivered 20,020 Starter Packs in 2025, made up of goods that YOU donated to help those in need.
If you would like to donate your pre-loved household items to Fresh Start, we'd kindly ask you to review the items and consider the following question: ‘Would I be happy to receive this?’
We are only able to use items that are in good and clean condition; for any donated items where this is not the case, Fresh Start is charged to dispose of them, as they are considered unsuitable and/or unsafe for onward distribution.
Our warehouse is located at 22-24 Ferry Road Drive, Edinburgh EH4 4BR; donations can be delivered during the following times:
Monday - Thursday: 9:00am - 4:00pm
Friday: 9:00am - 1:00pm
If you’re unable to drop off donations during these times, please get in touch with us. We work with many community organisations across Edinburgh who accept donations on our behalf, so we may be able to provide alternative drop off details for you.
Accepted Items:
Bedding & Linen: Single, Double and/or King Duvet Covers, Duvets, Pillows, Pillow Cases, Blankets, Towels, Curtains, Face Cloths.
Crockery: Dinner Plates, Side Plates, Bowls, Cutlery, Glasses, Mugs, Tea-Towels.
Cookware: Soup Pots, Frying Pans, Milk Pans, Cooking Utensils, Can Openers, Potato Peelers, Wooden Spoons.
Cleaning Items: Washing Up Liquid, Toilet Cleaner, Bin Bags & Liners, Dustpan & Brushes, All Purpose Cleaners, Laundry Tablets, J-Cloths.
Toiletries: Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Hand Soap, Toilet Rolls, Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Sanitary Items.
Non-Perishable Food Items: Tins & Jars of Beans, Spaghetti, Soup, Vegetables, Meat, Fish. Cooking Sauces, Pasta, Rice, Cereal, Porridge, Biscuits, Sugar, Tea Bags, Instant Coffee, UHT Milk.
Small Household Appliances: Kettles, Toasters, Lamps, Irons, Vacuum Cleaners, Radios, DVD Player, Microwaves, Music Systems.
Items we're unable to accept:
Fresh Start is unfortunately unable to accept donations of furniture; however, we work in partnership with the Bethany Christian Trust, who both accept and can provide these items to those in need.
