Dr Martens Edinburgh raises money for Fresh Start

Category Uncategorised

Dr. Martens Edinburgh hit the road for the fourth annual Scottish Tattoo Convention at the end of March to showcase its very own inked artwork to a colourful crowd of 4,000.

The iconic global fashion brand opened up shop at the well-known event, held at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, in aid of Edinburgh based charity, Fresh Start.

Fifteen distinct Dr. Martens items customised by international tattoo artists were showcased and raffled off to Docs fans in attendance, raising over £1,000 for the charity.

Each year, the various Dr. Martens stores across the UK get the chance to arrange their own external event and the Scottish Tattoo Convention was quickly picked out by the Edinburgh team’s preference.

Dr. Martens Edinburgh store manager Jenni Birrell said: “I'm personally a huge fan of tattoos and the tattoo culture. The Scottish Tattoo convention is starting to become a well-known event among the tattoo scene and it’s particularly in-keeping with the Dr. Martens brand so it was a perfect fit.

“We all had a fun time at the event and our presence was really well received. Our customised boots, shoes, bags and belts got lots of attention and we even spotted a few of our customers among the familiar faces.”

Keith Robertson, Managing Director of Fresh Start, the Edinburgh based charity that supports people who have been homeless settle into their communities said: “While a tattoo is for life, we hope homelessness can be just a temporary upheaval in someone’s life. But without the right suppor - goods, practical and social support - it can be a revolving door. We provide that help to ensure people settle into their new homes and stay there. The money raised by Dr Marten’s will be used to continue to do this.”

The team also selected the charity as one close to the city’s heart. Jenni continued: “Homelessness is rife in certain parts of the city, so as a team we felt it was a charity we wanted to support on a local level.”

Fresh Start was delighted to be chosen by Dr. Martens Edinburgh and would like to thank the team very much for their efforts.
