Each year Fresh Start appeals to its supporters via the 'Cookers for Christmas' appeal.  Money raised in this appeal goes to buy refurbished electric cookers and other white goods for new tenants who have been homeless.

These appliances are passed onto new tenants free of charge, giving them the means to cook themselves hot meals and wash their clothes.

This year Fresh Start’s efforts were boosted massively by a partnership with Scottish Hydro that enabled us to distribute brand new energy efficient appliances to clients living in fuel poverty.

Alongside our Electrical Re-use service, this is a perfect training ground for our social enterprise work (see also Training Initiative), providing people with the skills and confidence to get back into work.

At the same time almost 90 tonnes of electrical goods are diverted from landfill each year.
