There are a number of ways in which your church or faith group can become involved in the work of Fresh Start and/or provide essential support for our services.

Time

Both our Starter Pack and Hit Squad services rely on teams of volunteers who give of their spare time in support of our work. The Starter Pack teams help to sort and pack goods in the warehouse, while the Hit Squad’s work alongside new tenants to help decorate their homes.

Goods

Our Starter Pack service provides a number of basic and essential household goods and cleaning materials, which go out to new tenants.  By holding regular collections for spare or unwanted household items your church can help others in the setting up of their new home.

We ask that items are in a clean and useable state that you would be happy to use yourself.

Money

Fresh Start (Edinburgh) is a registered Scottish Charity and relies on the financial support of the churches to help fund our range of services.

Your church may wish to consider holding a special collection or fundraising event in support of our work. Congregations have organised a number of events in recent years from guest lectures and concerts to sponsored events and sales tables.

PAT Testing

Employers, Landlords and Letting agents are responsible by law for preventing any harm to their employees, customers and tenants when using equipment provided for their use.
