Trainee success

It’s with great pleasure we’re able to report that two of our trainees Zack Welsh and Dale Lothian have been accepted onto courses at Edinburgh College.  Both courses will be starting in September.  Zack (left) will be doing Social Sciences and Dale is going onto a Web Design course.

Duncan Campbell, Training Initiative Co-ordinator with Fresh Start, said: “This is fantastic. We always have high expectations of our trainees at the start of the programme as we have seen people flourish in the past.  I’m delighted that as a direct result of our programmes  both Zack and Dale have decided to move on to further  education”

Dale said; “When I started with Fresh Start I wanted to do something with computers in a creative way but didn’t have the confidence  or knowledge about how to get there.  Being a trainee has given me the confidence to apply to college and it feels good getting a place.”

Zack said: “After my  time at Fresh Start I realised I wanted to work with people who have experienced similar issues as myself  when I was homeless.  I also have a new found respect for adults. During my time as a trainee I not only gained valuable work experience which is going to stand me in good stead for my future, but I was treated as an adult and an individual by the staff and volunteers at Fresh Start.”
